Erasmus+ is the EU’s funding programme for education, training, youth and sport 2021-2027. The name of the programme has remained the same from the last programming period (2014-2020), with some updates to the structure of the funding opportunities financed through it.

Erasmus+ is made up of three key actions, as well as the Jean Monnet actions. Each key action within the programme represents a different set of funding opportunities:

  • Key Action 1 is for learning opportunities abroad for individuals, including informal learning;
  • Key Action 2 focuses on promoting cooperation among organisations and institutions
  • Key Action 3 provides support to policy development and cooperation

Projects in the field of sport can be financed through Erasmus+ not only through funding opportunities specifically in the field of sport, such as Not-for-Profit European Sport Events, but also through other opportunities such as the training of staff and volunteers (including sports coaches and administrative staff), and the exchange of information and best practices between local and foreign athletes.
