Measuring and monitoring socio-economic developments and challenges for children and their families is crucial for safeguarding this aspect of society and to share best practices.

The European Platform for Investing in Children (EPIC) is an evidence-based online platform that provides information about policies that can help children and their families face the challenges that exist in the current economic climate in Europe.

Recently, EPIC released updated versions of the country profiles included in its platform. The latest country profiles available on EPIC provide an up-to-date overview of current policies for children and their families in all EU countries.

The profiles outline the latest national socio-economic developments and challenges for children and their families. Furthermore, the profiles are structured along the three policy pillars of the European Commission Recommendation of February 2013 on Investing in Children: Breaking the cycle of disadvantage.

According to Malta’s profile, the country has “consolidated its efforts towards empowering children and investing in their wellbeing as underlined in Malta’s National Reform Programme, the National Children’s Policy launched in 2017 and the National Strategic Policy for Poverty Reduction and for Social Inclusion 2014–2024”.
