It would also improve access to information for public authorities and mobile workers and enhance transparency regarding their rights and obligations.<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the European Social Security Number (ESSN) aims to simplify and modernise citizens\u2019 interaction with administrations in a range of policy areas. It would facilitate administrative procedures for citizens by optimising the use of digital tools.<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Both initiatives were announced by President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in his 2017 State of the Union address. In fact, President Juncker stated that EU rules on labour mobility should be enforced in a fair, simple and effective way. To this end, he proposed that a European Labour Authority be established to strengthen cooperation between labour market authorities at all levels and better manage cross-border situations.
