{"id":5575,"date":"2022-01-21T16:48:23","date_gmt":"2022-01-21T15:48:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/?post_type=article&#038;p=5575"},"modified":"2022-01-21T16:50:49","modified_gmt":"2022-01-21T15:50:49","slug":"pagi-minimi-u-trasparenza-fil-pagi","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/en\/article\/pagi-minimi-u-trasparenza-fil-pagi\/","title":{"rendered":"Minimum wages and pay transparency"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/iStock-1142197514-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5576\" srcset=\"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/iStock-1142197514-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/iStock-1142197514-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/iStock-1142197514-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/iStock-1142197514-480x320.jpg 480w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/iStock-1142197514.jpg 1254w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>During their December meeting, EU ministers for employment reached a general agreement on a draft EU law on&nbsp;adequate minimum wages&nbsp;and on a proposed directive on&nbsp;<strong>pay transparency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/data.consilium.europa.eu\/doc\/document\/ST-14366-2021-INIT\/en\/pdf\">draft law on minimum wages<\/a> establishes a framework to&nbsp;<strong>promote adequate levels of statutory minimum wages<\/strong>, to&nbsp;<strong>promote collective bargaining on wage setting<\/strong>&nbsp;and to&nbsp;<strong>improve the effective access to minimum wage protection<\/strong>&nbsp;of those workers who are entitled to a minimum wage. &nbsp;The law will ensure adequate <strong>working and living conditions to workers across the EU.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/data.consilium.europa.eu\/doc\/document\/ST-14317-2021-INIT\/en\/pdf\">draft law on pay transparency<\/a> will help to&nbsp;<strong>close the gender pay gap by empowering m<\/strong>en and women workers to enforce their right to equal pay for equal work or work of equal value through a set of&nbsp;<strong>binding measures. <\/strong>Measures include transparency on: the initial pay level or range to be paid to the future worker; objective and gender-neutral criteria used to define their pay and career progression; information on individual pay level and the average pay levels for workers doing the same work or work of equal value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Negotiations between the EU Council and the European Parliament will now follow to reach agreement and final adoption of the draft laws.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During their December meeting, EU ministers for employment reached a general agreement on a draft EU law on&nbsp;adequate minimum wages&nbsp;and on a proposed directive on&nbsp;pay transparency.
