He was 80 years old.<\/p>\n<p><em>Voice of the Workers<\/em> spoke to Gejtu Tanti, former President of Union \u0126addiema Mag\u0127qudin, who described Joe as a loyal official and member of the union. Joe Borg was always present \u2013 notwithstanding the circumstances, be they protests, national demonstrations or meetings of the union council. Gejtu Tanti remembers Joe as a person who rarely missed an activity organised by U\u0126M.<\/p>\n<p>With regards to work-related duties, the former President\u00a0 of\u00a0 U\u0126M remembers Joe as the Secretary responsible of the Departimental and Parastatal Section. Joe Borg was responsible of one of the largest sections of the union and an aspect that amazed him was that Joe always coped with the day-to-day trade union issues. \u201cHe was a very friendly person, an\u00a0 avid listener, always strived to justify a member\u2019s case and always went out of his way to help&#8230;&#8230;he used to amaze me by his workload but he never grumbled,\u201dclaimed Gejtu Tanti.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, former President of U\u0126M continued that \u201cJoe Borg was loyal, hardworking and always happy, despite the stress of work that he\u00a0 had\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><em>Voice of\u00a0 the Workers<\/em> also took reactions from Jesmond Bonello, Director of U\u0126M Voice of the Workers. He remembers Joe Borg as one of the pioneers of the union and a true gentleman. \u201cJoe always loved the welfare of workers,\u201dsaid the Director of U\u0126M Voice of the Workers, and added that he always appreciated and learnt from Joe Borg\u2019s talents. \u201cHe was one of the persons who encouraged me to enrich my career in tradeunionism,\u201dsaid Jesmond Bonello.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall, concluded the Director of U\u0126M Voice of the Workers, Joe Borg was a gentleman, intelligent and always ready to help\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Sadly, we announce the death of Joseph\u00a0 Borg, ex-Secretary of the Departimental and Parastatal Section within U\u0126M.
