The EU is looking to continue prioritising\u00a0<\/span>workers<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0rights and working conditions across\u00a0<\/span>its<\/span>\u00a0Member States, highlighting the importance of social protection as a cornerstone of EU values.<\/span>\u00a0This is being done through\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>introduction\u00a0<\/span>in 2019\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>labour rules<\/span><\/a>\u00a0which include minimum requirements on working conditions, as well as information about employment conditions<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Working conditions include common standards on working hours, establishing a maximum work week of 48 hours, a paid annual leave allowance of four weeks, and rules on night work and shift work to address the possibilities of exploitation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Further rules also impact workers\u2019 mobility within the EU, as well as occupational health and safety. EU\u00a0<\/span>rules on mobility<\/span><\/a>\u00a0ensure that workers may work in other Member States without losing their rights to enjoy social benefits. Additionally, the rules set out general principles to ensures minimum health and safety standards.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to its strong policies on workers\u2019 rights and social justice, the EU continues to promote the importance of gender equality and work-life balance, adopting\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>set of new rules<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to allow parents and workers taking care of relatives with serious medical conditions\u00a0<\/span>to enjoy<\/span>\u00a0a better work-life balance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
