Many companies have risen to the occasion, act<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s5\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ing<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s5\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">swiftly to safeguard employees and migrate to a new way of working. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s8\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Before the pandemic, the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">practice<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> had been that offices were critical to productivity<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> and talent. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Several<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ompanies<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">focuse<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">d<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">on<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">solutions<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">to promote collaboration. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s8\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">During the pandemic, many people have been surprised by how quickly and effectively technologies for videoconferencing and other forms of digital collaboration were adopted. For many, the results have been better than imagined.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s8\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">According to <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">a <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">research<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">conducted<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">recently<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">majority<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> of <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">people<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> questioned report<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ed<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> that they enjoy<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ed<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> working from home. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">A <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">substantial<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">percentage<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">sa<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">id<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> that they <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">were<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> more productive than they had been before. Many employees liberated from long commutes and <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">traffic<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">congestions<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> have found more productive ways to spend that time, enjoyed greater flexibility in balancing their personal and professional lives and decided that they prefer <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">working<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">at<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> home rather than <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">at <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the office. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s8\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Before a vaccine is available, the office experience probably won\u2019t remain as it was before the pandemic. Many companies will <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">probably<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">require employees to wear masks at all times, redesign spaces to ensure physical distancing, and restrict movement in congested areas. As a result, attitudes toward offices will probably continue to evolve.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s8\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Will there be less mentorship and talent development? Has working from home succeeded only because it is viewed as temporary, not permanent?<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Every organization is different, and so are the circumstances of every individual employee. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s8\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Many have enjoyed this new experience<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">while<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> others are fatigued by it. Sometimes, the same people have experienced different emotions and levels of happiness or unhappiness at different times. The productivity of the employees who do many kinds of jobs has increased; for others it has declined. Many forms of virtual collaboration are working well; others are not. Some people <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">are getting mentorship and participating in casual, unplanned, and important conversations with colleagues<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.
