The COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath have been documented considerably during the first half of 2020. In view of the repercussions, the European Union has been\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>aking\u00a0<\/span>actions\u00a0<\/span>for a strong recovery from the pandemic<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>both from an economic and social perspective.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The European Union wants to recover sustainably whilst leading the way in areas related to climate and\u00a0digitalisation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In laying the foundations for a way forward, the transition following this unprecedented\u00a0period of time\u00a0is to be inclusive and should not come at the cost of the poorest citizens or Member States.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n T<\/span>he European Union is acting with decisiveness as it looks at both challenges and opportunities that the continent must grasp in the years to come.\u00a0Never before\u00a0has Europe required such a strong commitment to upgrade existing processes and safeguard the future of its citizens.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To this end, the Action Plan for a\u00a0<\/span>European Pillar of Social Rights<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that works for the European Union\u2019s citizens is being prepared. In view of presenting it in early 2021, the European\u00a0<\/span>Commission has launched a\u00a0<\/span>broad discussion<\/span><\/a>\u00a0on the topic towards which any interested party can contribute.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Contributions to the discussion can be done online and are open until November 30, 2020.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath have been documented considerably during the first half of 2020.
