\u201cIt seems absurd to have a Banking Authority to police banking standards, but no common Labour Authority for ensuring fairness in our single market. We will create one.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker delivered\u00a0<\/span>this statement<\/span><\/a>\u00a0during his\u00a0<\/span>State of the Union address in 2017<\/span><\/a>. Since then, it seems that a lot of progress has been made\u00a0<\/span>regarding the creation of a\u00a0<\/span>European Labour Authority<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(ELA).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In fact,\u00a0<\/span>last month<\/span>, t<\/span>he European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council reached a provisional agreement on the Comm<\/span>ission’s proposal to establish a<\/span>n<\/span>\u00a0ELA.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The aim of the ELA is to support fair mobility within the EU, due to the \u201c<\/span>fast increase of the number of Europeans working in a Member State other than that of their origin, the large number of daily commuters<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and the important need of information on job opportunities and rights at home and abroad (insured by a good cooperation between national authorities)<\/span>\u201d.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The ELA is part of the efforts being made by the EU institutions and the Member States in order to strengthen the principles of the\u00a0<\/span>European Pillar of Social Rights<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
