The European Parliament Elections are fast-approaching and, according to the\u00a0European Parliament<\/a>, \u201cby voting, you help decide what kind of Europe we have in the years to come\u201d.\u00a0The European Parliament is in fact the only institution wherein its members are directly elected by the citizens of the EU.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This year, maybe more than ever before, citizens need to be well-informed on the significance of this year\u2019s elections in relation to the future of the EU. One way to do so is to meet the persons who have experienced the day-to-day running of the institution itself: the MEPs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On January 25, 2019, Europe Direct Valletta, MEUSAC and the European Parliament Liaison Office in Malta organised\u00a0the first<\/a>\u00a0of a series of events related to the\u00a0May\u00a0<\/b>25\u00a0<\/b>Europea<\/b>n Parliament elections<\/b>\u00a0and the\u00a0thistimeimvoting.eu<\/a>\u00a0campaign.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The panel\u00a0included\u00a0MEPs Roberta Metsola, Marlene Mizzi, Alfred Sant and\u00a0Francis Zammit Dimech. Attendees expressed their opinions on salient issues the EU is currently facing, and the future of the\u00a0Union itself.
