The European Parliament flash Eurobarometer, which focused on public opinion, and the 2019 MEP elections Lead Candidate Process,\u00a0also known as\u00a0Spitzenkandidaten<\/i>,\u202fand European Parliament Media Recall, found that 68% of\u00a0respondents\u00a0in Malta\u00a0feel Malta\u2019s membership is a good thing. The feel-good factor\u00a0for EU membership was also felt among all other Member States,\u00a0with an absolute majority stating that membership for their country is a good thing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n However, only 49% of respondents in Hungary said membership is a good thing for their country while the rest of\u00a0Hungarian\u00a0respondents\u00a0said\u00a0it\u2019s neither good\u00a0nor\u00a0bad or did not have an opinion on the\u00a0matter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In a separate question, 45%\u00a0of European respondents replied that the EU generally conjured up a “total positive” image,\u00a0the results of respondents\u00a0in Malta\u00a0being at par with the EU average.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On the candidate lead process,\u00a0more than half of Europeans stated\u00a0that the lead candidate\u00a0process will make them more likely to vote in the European elections\u00a0which shows that there is a rising support for the lead candidate process and that it only makes sense if it is accompanied by a real debate about European issues and the future of the EU.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n When asked whether respondents heard about the European Parliament\u2019s activities through the media, 43% of respondents in Malta said they did.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
