Young teenage girl waving with the European Union flag in the city.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On\u00a0August 13, 2018 the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/social\/main.jsp?catId=1246&amp;langId=en\">European Platform for Investing in Children<\/a>\u00a0(EPIC) published its annual thematic\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/social\/main.jsp?catId=738&amp;langId=en&amp;pubId=8127&amp;furtherPubs=yes\">report<\/a>, which focuses on changes in child and family policies in the EU throughout 2017.<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The report notes a number of important developments in child and family policy,\u00a0particularly the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/social\/main.jsp?langId=en&amp;catId=1226\">European Pillar of Social Rights<\/a>\u00a0in relation to the\u00a0setting\u00a0up of\u00a0the framework for new legislative actions to combat the various challenges facing European children and their families.\u00a0It also focuses on the situations of vulnerable children, and on the key aspects related to socio-economic disadvantages.<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The report also finds that the direction of current developments in the area of child and family policy is based on the principle of inclusiveness and integrated approaches, with the European Pillar of Social Rights being the major change to policy structures in 2017.
