{"id":1793,"date":"2018-09-07T16:42:43","date_gmt":"2018-09-07T14:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/?post_type=article&#038;p=1793"},"modified":"2018-09-07T16:43:04","modified_gmt":"2018-09-07T14:43:04","slug":"fond-socjali-gdid-fond-ghall-aggustament-tal-globalizzazzjoni-u-fond-tal-gustizzja-id-drittijiet-u-l-valuri","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/en\/article\/fond-socjali-gdid-fond-ghall-aggustament-tal-globalizzazzjoni-u-fond-tal-gustizzja-id-drittijiet-u-l-valuri\/","title":{"rendered":"A new Social Fund, Globalisation Adjustment Fund and Justice, Rights and Values Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1785\" src=\"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/iStock-153253333-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2142\" height=\"1399\" srcset=\"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/iStock-153253333-min.jpg 2142w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/iStock-153253333-min-300x196.jpg 300w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/iStock-153253333-min-768x502.jpg 768w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/iStock-153253333-min-1024x669.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2142px) 100vw, 2142px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the next long-term EU budget, the Commission proposes to further strengthen the Union&#8217;s social dimension with a renewed European Social Fund, the &#8216;European Social Fund\u00a0Plus&#8217;\u00a0(ESF+), and a strengthened and more effective European\u00a0Globalisation\u00a0Adjustment Fund (EGF).<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For the period 2021-2027, the European Social Fund Plus would be worth \u20ac101.2 billion, and the\u00a0Globalisation\u00a0Adjustment Fund \u20ac1.6 billion. Both are geared to invest in people: ensuring they are equipped with the right skills needed to deal with challenges and changes on the\u00a0labour\u00a0market, following up on the European Pillar of Social Rights. The Justice, Rights and Values Fund will be worth \u20ac947 million over 7 years. It will further support the development of a European Area of Justice based on the rule of law and mutual trust and ensure people can enjoy their rights.<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Vice-President for the Euro, Social Dialogue, Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, Valdis\u202f<b>Dombrovskis<\/b>\u00a0said: &#8220;<i>These proposals follow the fundamental questions we have been asking since the White Paper on the future of Europe and subsequent reflection papers:\u202fwhat European Union do we want, how will we shape it, and how do we pay for it?\u202fOur ambitions for a more social Europe are fully reflected: we need EU funding to fit our policies both to pro-actively support the most vulnerable in our societies, and to react when\u00a0<\/i><i>globalisation<\/i><i>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/i><i>digitisation<\/i><i>\u00a0make their impact felt<\/i>.&#8221;<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and\u00a0Labour\u00a0Mobility, Marianne\u202f<b>Thyssen<\/b>, said:<i>\u202f\u201cEurope wants to empower people. We put our money where our mouth is. Our new, flexible and simplified social funds are focused on investing in people: to make sure they have the right skills, to make sure they have modern social protection adapted to new forms of work, and to show solidarity with those who need it most.&#8221;\u202f<\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Vytenis<b>\u202fAndriukaitis<\/b>, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, stressed that:<i>\u202f&#8221;Health is\u202fa\u202ffundamental\u202fvalue therefore it makes sense that the future EU budget envisions integrating the Health\u00a0<\/i><i>programme<\/i><i>\u00a0in ESF+ under the cluster of &#8220;values&#8221;.\u202fThis\u202fwill lead to new and stronger synergies with\u202fthe other building blocks of the European Pillar of Social Rights and will allow better coordination of\u00a0<\/i><i>health related<\/i><i>\u00a0investments. It will\u202falso\u202fsupport health promotion and disease prevention,\u202fimproving effectiveness, accessibility and resilience of health systems\u202fas well\u00a0<\/i><i>as\u202freducing health inequalities and\u202fmaking\u202fhealthcare\u202fbetter and\u202fsafer\u202ffor the benefit of patients\u202fand society at large.&#8221;<\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>V\u011bra\u202f<b>Jourov\u00e1<\/b>, Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality said:\u202f<i>&#8220;With today&#8217;s proposal for a new Justice, Rights and Values Fund, we make sure we can give the best support possible for initiatives upholding EU rights, values and the rule of law.\u202f<\/i><br \/>\n<i>At a time where European societies are confronted with extremism, radicalism and divisions, it is more important than ever to promote, strengthen and defend justice, rights and EU values. NGOs and civil society play a crucial role in standing up for these European values.
