{"id":1269,"date":"2018-05-02T07:47:48","date_gmt":"2018-05-02T05:47:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/?post_type=article&#038;p=1269"},"modified":"2018-05-03T12:26:12","modified_gmt":"2018-05-03T10:26:12","slug":"l-ghalliema-jixxenqu-ghar-rispett","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/en\/article\/l-ghalliema-jixxenqu-ghar-rispett\/","title":{"rendered":"Teachers long awaiting respect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1270\" src=\"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Graham20Sansone.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2700\" height=\"1803\" srcset=\"http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Graham20Sansone.jpg 2700w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Graham20Sansone-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Graham20Sansone-768x513.jpg 768w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Graham20Sansone-1024x684.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/weekly.uhm.org.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Graham20Sansone-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2700px) 100vw, 2700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right;\">Graham Sansone -Executive Head (UPE)<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Teachers deserve to be respected not\u00a0disparaged or intimidated because they dare to speak up for the children\u2019s benefit.<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0statement was made by Graham\u00a0Sansone,\u00a0Executive Head\u00a0of the\u00a0Union of Professional Educators (UPE)\u00a0during a conference organised\u00a0by\u00a0U\u0126M Voice of the Workers\u00a0to mark International Workers\u2019 Day at the Catholic Institute,\u00a0Floriana\u00a0on Friday, 27 April 2018.<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He explained that a few months ago an agreement was signed that,\u00a0in his view,\u00a0\u201cput all teachers in a corner, from those at the bottom of the scale to the\u00a0highest ranking\u00a0teacher.\u201d Graham Sansone said that this agreement was signed behind the teachers\u2019 backs without giving them a chance to vote on it like others had had.\u00a0<span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Executive Head of the UPE explained that the union is based on three principles \u2013\u00a0Loyalty,\u00a0Values and\u00a0Professionality.\u00a0The UPE is loyal to its members at all times and they will always find a shoulder to rest upon.
